Closer! Closer! As closer as it is possible to a favourite subject!
As closer so it becomes possible to touch the subject! That any distance to disappeare!
Otherwise no knowledge, any possession of the subject is impossible.

Abstract paintings turns out abstract because it is painted from zero distance but not because the painting represents something which doesn’t exist.
Take any realistic picture – a landscape, for example. You with your painter’s case are here, and your objects: small river, bushes, clouds are somewhere there. There is a distance between you and the subject, and from this distance you observe and represent the object. This is the main principal of all realistic painting. We perceive a subject with the help of five external feelings (sometimes more, but it is not as important), and here this lasting sensation of a subject with the help of external feelings we can see on an abstract painting. This is the point which means to come up to the subject as closer as it is possible. When there is no place left, the subject and object merge in one, and we have the lasting process of perception occurring in our sense organs. Here the abstractionist artist deals with it. The subject is present on an abstract painting, but only as a reminder that it has was. The subject, not an apple itself, is the most important; the greatest importance consists of what around the subject is, what processes it is decomposed. On a painting there is a meditative cogitative analysis of the process of perception, it is not any heap of colour lines and forms, it is a strict analytics which is based on our internal sensation.

Very long time in painting it was considered as something self-evident and is unique true to represent a subject only from outside, from the distance. Subject’s decomposition from within was considered as something illegal. To come closer to an apple on zero distance, to touch and feel it from the inside, to break it, to touch it by your lips and to eat by painting means, was considered as something impudent and blasphemous as if it was a question of sexual intercourse. The fruit that you are painting, must be no-touch! Paint, but do not encroach on the subject of creation! Modern painting was coming closer to true abstraction, to the expressing of subject from within our perception with shy steps, through a gradual deviation from realistic painting, through a cubism, surrealism, an expressionism, mysticism, a fantasy and other. It is possible to name this new direction as a subject abstraction.
