The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set
The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set was made available on September 9th of 2009 it immediately became the standard for The Beatles classic albums. These remastered mixes sound far better than the old CDs from the 80s. When when I compare the remastered CDs to the older discs it’s like the old CDs are under a pile of old blankets while the new discs sound very clear so that all of the vocals, guitar parts, bass guitar parts, and drums push through the mixes like never before.
The Remastered Beatles in Stereo Box Set isn’t the only box set by The Beatles that came out in September of ’09 but it has been the biggest seller since it can be enjoyed by the biggest set of fans. The Beatles in Mono Box Set is great too but it appeals mostly to purists who want to hear the 1960s mono mixes (and compare them to the stereo mixes) than to the average classic rock fan. Although there are definitely songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially quite a few of the pre Magical Mystery Tour recordings) all things considered I believe the stereo set does sound best.
The great thing about The Beatles Stereo Box Set is that it lets you to acquire The Beatles entire ’62-’70 catalog with just one order and when one considers the extremely high quality of almost all of their albums, it makes sense to buy all of The Beatles albums at once rather than ordering some of them and getting the rest later.
Beyond the fantastic songs included in this box set there are some really cool visual parts, most obviously the DVD with 13 mini documentaries on it (one for each studio album.) Along with this 50 minute DVD there are extensive liner notes for each CD (there’s some good info in there, especially for new Beatles fans) and some interesting unpublished photographs.
I’m such a big fan of The Beatles that I have purchased (or am planning on purchasing) The Beatles Stereo Box Set, The Beatles in Mono Box, The Beatles USB Memory Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Game. But if I had to pick just one of these things, it would have to be the stereo box set because it is the best way to hear their music and after all, it’s their influential albums that is the most important.
