As an artist I have found silk painting quite absorbing. I became interested in this primarily when I moved to the Canary Islands, though I did not have much time to give to it or have the essential gear actually. If truth be told, I straightforwardly improvised!
Initially it was solely something I did intermittently after I ended work to wind down slightly. However I found the time completely vanished because I became so engaged in what I was doing that I in no way wanted to halt. Therefore you might declare it was only a bit of a diversion that I found myself partaking in from time to time.
To this time it is still as before, I have phases when I perform silk paintings. On these times I frequently wish I did more. Yet, I can genuinely state that I have given out quite a lot of silk paintings to an assortment of acquaintances and relatives as presents for Birthdays and Christmas and they are continually well received.
Moreover, here in the Canary Islands I have found it rather difficult to acquire the items needed intended for creating silk paintings, which has been pretty frustrating for me. At present it does appear to be a little easier, thank goodness.
Nonetheless, on my jaunt to Ireland last year I was fortunate enough to come across a picturesque tiny art with craft shop tucked away within Kenmare which came up with some of my necessities, therefore it started me off once more!
I would not say that silk painting is unproblematic as you never know when the colours are going to seep plus they are especially tricky to correct. Also, you cannot tell how the silk is going to soak up the paint. Sometimes it can be quite patchy and even if you put on additional paint it doesn’t seem to make any change, which can remain pretty maddening.
Once the paint runs it can be in truth maddening, but yet at other times it can be delightful seeing that it can add to the appearance. So you might pronounce there are advantages and however disadvantages whilst you carry out silk painting.
The silk itself looks lovely as the daylight shines through it, accordingly you can really use silk paint on top of ties, silk cushions, bags, garments etc. to dazzling effects. Subsequently, as you can grasp, it can be used to decorate bits and pieces excluding pictures. Even though periodically this may perhaps be comparatively complicated.
As I do silk painting I regularly become aware of for my part dyeing the silk first otherwise creating patterning going on the silk before I even think about what I am actually going to paint on to the material itself. After you paint pictures though it is not always easy to determine how to mount them to acquire the best effect. I would state it is down to trial and error and just the artist can work out this.
None the less, abstract paintings still remain my favourite type of art.
