The second component of safety is a quality anti-virus program. These programs can help to protect your computer from malicious code that could steal sensitive information from your computer. Keeping your anti-virus software is an important part of maintaining your safety.

Don’t Go Places You Don’t Know

The internet is similar to the descriptions you have probably heard of large cities. There are places where bad things are known to happen. In fact, there are numerous sites online that are labeled as being known to have malicious code. This is a reality that is good to know. By avoiding the sites that are known to be malicious you can reduce your likelihood of being attacked.

In addition most people have standard sites that they visit. By simply visiting the standard sites that you want to visit you can work to protect your information as well.

Do Not Give Your Sensitive Information Away

There is some information that you should be more careful with than another information. The most sensitive of information includes numbers like your social security number, your bank account number and other vital information. These numbers can be used to process transactions using your credit and finances. This information should only be given to trusted individuals and businesses via secure transactions.

Information should be guarded as well. Information such as your address and telephone number should not be given to everyone in some cases. This information can also be used as identifying information. Safeguarding it is another way that you can work toward online safety. You may find that some of this information is optional on some sites. Give thought to whether you want to provide the information prior to providing it.
