How would you feel if you knew there were places and organizations that are willing to give you free stuff and all you have to do is ask? You may have to provide some information like name, address, phone number, and email address so they can get the stuff to you but if that’s all that is required, then why not? If I had to guess I would say there are over a thousand sites that give away free stuff and about half that many in retail stores.

How would one go about getting freebies? Well friends, I will let you in on my little secret. Firstly, find yourself a computer and a nice comfortable chair. I say comfy chair because once I tell you my secret you are going to be hooked at looking up stuff online and be sitting on that seat for a while. Most of the freebies you will find are online and this is become the normal medium for companies to get free samples to the public. That is why most of America shops online rather than not having to drive and fight traffic and wait in a check-out line for a few hours.

The how to get freebies is a simple process. Once you are at your computer that has access to the World Wide Web, you just need to pull up your browser. Once you have that pulled up you may use your favorite search engine. Mine is Yahoo.com, but you may use any of them like Google or AOL. They all allow you to type in a text search and have a search box provided for you.

Once you have chosen your search engine, type in key word phrases like “freebies”, “free samples” or “free stuff” and their variations. This will generate search results that will often have free cosmetics and free samples of cosmetics. Once you find a list of places that provide these services fill out the information. There is a site called give usfreestuff.com and all you have to do is give your information and complete a few sponsor offers and they will send your free items to you in the mail. Another great site is FreeStuff4Free.com which update their legitimate freebies daily so you can always be assured of getting stuff in the mail constantly.

There are also free trial offers where you can try out a service for FREE. Some of these services include DVD rentals or free phone calls for a certain period. Just remember with any free trial offer and sponsor offers that you cancel before the trial period ends. This will mean that you need to keep a record of the date you signed up so that you cancel and aren’t charged any fees. This is how they make their money to be able to provide free samples and freebies to you; through their sponsor companies. If you should forget to cancel before time they will not send any reminders of cancelations they will just charge you for the service or products. So it is critical that you cancel within the trial period time. This then will enable you to still enjoy the service without having to pay for them.

There are many other methods and sites available. My suggestion is to try a few out and you’ll get the hang of it in no time. You’ll know which sites to trust and which not to and also what you’re willing to do to get freebies.

Recently I have opened a color pencil for myself. I suggest to you also to get accustomed to this material more attentively.

Working with small children, I offered them cooler pencils for the first acquaintance with color. Then, very soon, passed to development of more serious materials – a watercolor and gouache. Also I was always confident that color pencils – is frivolous, insignificant and superficial technics…

Now, after my experiments with a color pencil, I should recognize that there are no insignificant materials and the technician in the fine arts in general!

So, what was found out at work with color pencils?

Specific features:

1. The color pencil does not maintain very big sizes of a format.

2. Possesses a color transparency.

3. Complexity and a color subtlety are reached by imposing of several colors.

4. Inherently, it nevertheless the drawing material and consequently, of course, it is necessary experience to draw by a regular pencil.

The elementary sketch.

The color pencil is erased with rubber very bad, therefore at first I do preliminary sketches on some simple paper and I bring editing, without being afraid to damage a surface. Primary drawing I make with a regular pencil, at first planning the basic forms, then defining borders of a light and shade. It allows not putting color on the places, which have been not intended for a covering.

If I accept result, I move the sketch on a paper for the main work. Remember that at this stage drawing does not require to be in details, the field of vision will be inevitably left by set of details: therefore postpone details to a work stage in color.

If you only start to master color pencils, choose a paper the most unpretentious and simple in use, and, except that, capable “to sustain loading” of corrections of errors. For example, the firm pencil is badly put down on a rough paper, and soft easily crumbles and breaks about a relief of a paper with well expressed texture. Therefore, it is better to use a qualitative paper with average texture indexes to practice and get acquainted with all nuances of technics of a color pencil. Naturally, it is necessary to experiment with a various paper.

My favorite kind of paper is “wipe paper”; its velvety surface will give to a pencil warm, gentle disposition. But as the paper relief can keep considerable volume of color, I can control the rich, saturated stains of color.

Irrespective of ability of a paper to “forgive” to the artist discrepancy and mistakes, it is not necessary to overload it with color. At an initial stage of studying do not put on a basis pigment dense layers. The problem consists in learning gradually, and strictly supervising, to build color.

In spite of the fact that a little updating is possible with the help of eraser, for example, for softening of separate places, the pencil pigment will be inevitably smeared on a paper if it has been put with a dense or deep layer. Draw easy lines to exclude necessity of correction of a dense layer of a pigment. Then you can improve work with new paint layers for a long time.

Let’s speak about technics elements, at first.

The pencil leaves on a paper a thin line and it is impossible to cover the big area at once. Sometimes these not complete parts of drawing have huge psychological influence on the artist; therefore I recommend to divide work into fragments and to make them consistently. Such approach justifies itself, as I perceive each part of drawing simply as a combination of light, average and dark values. Here is necessary certain practice. Eyes should learn to see object not only as a subject, but also as set of different color stains. To your surprise, such method will remove a lot of problems, especially in the beginning work, and difficult work at any difficult drawing will give huge pleasure.

I do not use a white pencil for light or white places: it will give effect of grayish, pale shades, and I need accurate contrast of light and dark casts. And I simply leave untouched paper whiteness.

After allocation of these stains, I start to put color layers, developing scale from light to the dark. I pass one color on another until I will achieve a necessary shade. It is a unique way of mixing of paints in the technician of a color pencil (without use of solvents).

In the nature there are few of one-color objects. I don’t use only one pencil for the decision of a concrete color stain: each place represents a combination of paints of two or more colors.

Even if your “object” has absolutely black color — try to find characteristic texture-tonal drawing and to define light and dark stains. Then you should choose paints, which are harmoniously combined and are close to each place of color. I have established a rule for myself: always to mix a paint of primary color with paints, at least, of two other pencils. Only after that it is possible to consider developed tone. At the given approach search of the most true and correct shades raises special visual interest. Creating in drawing expressive effects, sometimes it is necessary to use about 50 various pencils.

It is impossible to avoid underpainting on difficult places.

Finishing the given stage, it is possible to begin laborious work on nuances of a light-to-dark modelling, observing sequence from light to the dark. Changing pencil pressing, create a wide range of values, avoiding effect of “polishing” of a surface at which paints of light shades with effort are put on dark so that wax binding of a pencil is softened and forms luster.

Final strokes.

Having felt that I am close to finishing stages of work, I remove sheet on one and a half – two metre and I analyze its coloristic decision, contrast and properties of values from various sides and points of view. I bring changes and additions. Then, if I will consider necessary, I delete all casual traces and stains, and also errors with eraser. All work from beginning to end occupies from 15 till 30 hours.

Try elements of my technique of drawing in color pencils, irrespective of character of the chosen object. There is a unique way to penetration into secrets of this – it is attentive research, experiments with pencil pressing, ways of drawing of paint layers and a variety of a paper. Availability and the spontaneous nature of color pencils sometimes create false representation about their brilliant and unlimited possibilities, for example, in creation of the most detailed realistic works. However, it is possible to tell with confidence that color pencils are capable to inspire any artist to feel huge pleasure from a successful combination of elements schedules and painting.

Do you get excited over the thought of singing with the great singers or merely wish to develop your vocal power, clarity, and range for the sake of the incredible joy of singing? Whatever the driving force, there are certain things you can do that will help you to improve so that you can intensify your passion for sharing your talent and discovering how to properly care for your voice as your singing tool.

Anyone that sings a lot, at one time or another, typically experiences a scratchy voice or potentially throat pain from singing. In learning and following through certain techniques, you will take care of your voice, avoid bad throat problems and further your singing skills. These steps will help ensure that you maintain your singing voice and keep it in the best functioning condition for several years.

Although it is always healthy and advisable for all adults to drink a minimum of eight, 8oz. glasses of water per day, it’s absolutely of the essence for singers, as this will maintain good hydration for your throat. Also, learning to breathe the right way will help you to sing your best. If you happen to be in the process of taking voice lessons or teaching yourself to sing, you should steer clear of yelling or shouting or talking loudly. Each of these bad habits may cause a hoarse voice, affecting your singing ability.

Were you aware that your diet affects how healthy your voice is? For instance, alcohol and sometimes even mouthwash, can contain ingredients that irritate the throat and vocal cords. Foods that are really spicy weaken the throat as well. Also, cigarette smoke, whether itís first-hand or second-hand smoke, causes overall health issues, which also reflects in the healthiness of the throat. Overall, a healthy voice is at its best when encompassed by a healthy body. Take care of yourself!

So, now, you know you want to sing, you know taking care of your throat and voice is crucial, now you need to respect your voice. There are many different types of singing-thereís jazz, choir, gospel singing, and even throat singing. Decide what type or types of singing you want to focus on and move towards reaching that next level of potential.

Along with the different styles of singing, your voice naturally has certain qualities or shortcomings. Itís important to choose music that is appropriate for your voice. Knowing and staying within your vocal abilities will help to avoid strain on your vocal chords.

The best way to improve your singing voice is by practicing again and again. Make it a point to practice on a regular basis either with a voice coach, online singing lessons, with your local choir or at amateur events whenever the opportunity arises. You may even decide to have a demo CD created to hear yourself and to pass along to others. Not only will this be good practice for you, it will strengthen your vocal abilities and get you accustomed to singing in front of people and perhaps even open up the opportunity for you to sing for money.

Of course, using microphones that can enhance your voice and make it sound even that much more professional can really help.

The two we recommend are the MXL 990 Condenser Microphone for anyone on a budget (under $100)… and the Neumann TLM 103 Microphone for the aspiring professional who still appreciates a good value, but has a more professional-sized budget (over $1000).

Every brush consists of three basic parts: a hair bunch, a metal holder and the wooden handle.

Metal clamp. Metal clamps of qualitative brushes are seamless, made of seamless copper or a brass and can be covered by chrome or nickel. The brush clamp should be densely filled with hairs and strongly cover the handle on a circle. The hair bunch is glued to the handle and gives to brush bigger durability, but the gluing structure should not reach the top end of a clamp. It leads to necessity to use longer hairs that the brush at work could be turned on desirable degree.

The handle. High quality handles can be made only of firm wood of deciduous trees, such, as a beech, an oak, and a birch. The handle and a metal clamp are pressed with each other for better durability.

Hair bunch. The hair bunch, actually working part of a brush, is natural or synthetic hair of different shape and size. It is impossible to find universal brush, each brush has own mission. Brushes of natural hair are good for work with liquid paints, as main criteria here – control over fluidity of paint, ability of a brush to form a thin tip and elasticity of a hair bunch. The soft structure of natural hair and its natural form as well as possible meet these requirements.

Kolinsky is the best hair for a brush; it has gold-brown coloring, with sharp, as a needle, tip. It holds paint very well; its soft structure, the conic form and return make its ideal for all liquid paints and a portrayal of details. Besides the bunch of kolinsky brushes consists of hairs of different length, which at contact of the filled brush with a surface, create a capillary stream – continuous, with an excellent consistence.

Least weasel is an alternative to kolinsky hair. Hairs of red-brown color, with the good sharp tip, of quite good filling, but not such long, as at a kolinsky hair.

Hair of the squirrel is very thin, of blue, black or brown color. The tip of a brush from the squirrel hair reminds a rapier edge, under the control over fluidity does not concede a kolinsky hair, but it is not so elastic by the nature.

Easy bull hair. Brushes from the bull hair also are good for liquid paints at the expense of softness and elasticity though haven’t such sharp conic form, as kolinsky or squirrel hair. Brushes for pastose paints are estimated only on one parameter: the denser is paint the hair should be firmer. Brushes from a bristle hair are considered as the most suitable. Slightly diluted paints require softer hair.

Badger hair has the conic form and a dense top part, closer to the hair end, but near hair root it is rather thin, therefore a brush is very fluffy. It is considered ideal at work with moderately diluted oil paints. The best badger brushes have a tip of white color and a dark strip in the middle.

Pig bristle – elastic and strong, from it can be made the best brushes for oil and acrylic. The major characteristic of a bristle is its split tip – it promotes good fullness of a brush and equal drawing of paint on a basis surface.

Synthetic brushes are not similar with each other and behave differently. Nylon brushes are not good for work with a watercolor, but are good for moderately diluted acrylic as possess the necessary durability and elasticity. Synthetic hair on the basis of polyesters possesses various degree of elasticity. It can be collected in bunches of various diameters for creation of capillary action between fibres, with what is reached the good control over fluidity.

Also you can meet brushes with the mixed structure of natural and synthetic hair. The brushes containing hairs of a red sable, it is possible to use for work with oil paints, acrylic and a watercolor. Others on the contrary have been made specially for liquid acrylic paints and are too soft for oil paints.

My lessons on art history can be different. I read lectures to adult people, and I try to talk, play with children. Especially fascinatingly for students pass classes devoted to a landscape genre. The first lesson about a landscape passes traditionally – at first after all it is necessary to get acquainted with features of a genre, its versions, with the most known landscape painters. The real education of feelings begins at a following lesson, which is called “The landscape poetry”. Considering landscape pictures we will try to comprehend an image poetically. For me it is very much a right moment, when I can bring students to understanding of affinity of painting and poetry.

It is known that arts do not outline the borders and do not reject relationship. Image art, word art, music as smokes of three fires, being combined, intertwine in uniform space and participate in the general sacrament – poetic development of the world. It would be desirable, that children have felt this deep connection as soon as possible. It would mean to make their spiritual life more difficult, to fill it with associations without which is impossible the real creativity.

In different cultures, we know, there were periods when the fine art was read in poetry reflections, and the poetry lived with art suggestions. I suggest to students the product of the Japanese classical art, as an example. We know also that in the fine arts of Japan, deep penetration into the nature world has generated a genre of a landscape much earlier, than it has appeared in the European painting. The feeling of the nature penetrates the literature, painting, and an applied art of Japan since ancient times. Sources of such relation are in attitude of the Japanese – they love and value the nature.

I show decorative lists on screens, roll painting, and engravings of the Japanese masters. They notice that many images are devoted to sunrise and a sunset, certain hours in the afternoon, holidays of an admiring by the moon and colors of a cherry and plum, to iris gardens in color, the hills, covered with snow, etc. Then I read them verses of the Japanese poets, and tell them about classical form of Japanese versifications. They attentively listened, sometimes asked to repeat, and have written down and have learnt verses, which they liked.

I have paid attention to unity, indissolubility of the image and poetry and that the aesthetics both that, and another is based on the underlined role of a detail and implied sense. At first, when I read verses, children tried to imagine a visible image.

Art is amazing and it always brings good positive expression to every person. Enjoy art and be happy!

In the Middle Ages it was considered that the nature couldn’t become a picture theme. Usually landscapes appeared on cloths as a background for any historical scene. Sometimes the landscape consisted only of several rocks — one guide on painting of XIV century even advised to artists to heat up rocks on the background. But in XVI-XVII centuries the relation to landscapes began to vary.

In XV century artists have started to comprehend prospect laws. This revolutionary opening has allowed them to represent space more precisely. Hence, they could create more realistic landscapes. It gradually began to appear pictures, where the landscape played more important role, than people, and even pictures, where at all there were no people.

To seventeenth century the nature became a popular theme in painting, and a landscape — a full genre. Artists, especially in Northern Europe, created a large quantity of landscapes — from imagined idyllic scenes to the most detailed kinds of real places.

The first landscape writers did not create a picture directly outside on the nature. Having made some sketches, they came back in studio and already finished the work there. But in the middle of nineteenth century there was a fashion to write pictures in the open air. Artists were inspired by a changeable play of light and the atmospheric phenomena, and they aspired to write landscapes directly “from nature”.

Eventually the relation of artists to landscapes varied not less, than landscapes. For last century there were especially many various styles — from frightening urban landscapes of cubists and lyrical city images to “land-art” (artists of this direction work with a landscape, using for creation of the works the ground, stones and other natural materials). As a source of inspiration for artists of “land-art” serves the surrounding landscape, and their products become its part then.

Still life works.

The still life is an image of motionless objects, such, as flowers or fruit, musical instruments etc.
Till the end of nineteenth century main principles of creation of still life works were defined by aspiration to make them, as it is possible realistic. And artists have reached such skill in it that could represent everything — from a bunch of grapes, which looks so realistic, to jugs and bowls which, apparently, go beyond from a picture plane.

Creation of a still life works demands the big skill. It is necessary for artist to make an interesting composition, to show light, the texture of subjects. Such pictures force you to believe that you look at real volume subjects, instead of on the plane covered with paint. However, critics up to nineteenth century scornfully concerned still life art — they saw only practice in the picturesque techniques in it.

The still life can be the simple image of subjects, and can comprise any hidden sense. Artists often make a composition expressing certain ideas. So, books symbolize knowledge, musical instruments — pleasure, and skulls, trembling body of flame or decaying fruit urged to remind of death. Pictures with the hidden symbolical sense are called as allegories. Allegorical pictures became so popular that some artists almost have completely devoted themselves to this genre.

The term “art” can define the most different objects — from prehistoric drawings on stones and ceramics to obstruction of household and industrial stuff in art galleries. But though to art area also refer music, theatre, ballet and the literature, more often this term means the fine arts, and first of all painting.

For centuries people tried to understand what is art. Artists and critics quarreled and argued about this, adhering to the most different opinions. The French artist Manet has so strongly differed in opinion from one of critics that has challenged him on duel. There are many questions at issue, but there is not and will not be unequivocal, intelligible answers. Everybody has own tastes and opinions — and only you should choose what you like more.

For someone art should be, first of all, fine, for others — realistic, for third it is more important, that it transfers mood or feeling. There are many diversified pictures in the world: one differs with almost photographic accuracy, others are much more outlined, but very precisely shows the mood …

One people believe that art should express certain ideas; others prefer to enjoy art for the sake of art. Just about it impressionists also had big discussions — someone from them considered that it is necessary to reproduce scenes from a modern life, others were more interested in studying of influence of light on subjects.

It frequently becomes a subject of fierce disputes also cost of art works. Vincent Van Gogh has died in poverty as nobody wished to buy his pictures, and today his art works have big prices among the most valuable works of art in the world.

To help the spectator to understand sense of a picture, artists frequently place the hidden helps — symbols on it. They are connected with the general concepts sometimes. For example, the book symbolizes the doctrine, a sword or other weapon – fights, and a blossoming branch of a tree or a flower – beauty and pleasure. Besides, symbols help to understand, who is represented in a picture. Known characters, for example sacred, are often represented with the symbolical subjects associating with history of their life so experts can understand whom the artist has presented in the picture. In any pictures it is possible to find set of helps – here only it is necessary to know what to search.

For perception of a picture it is also very important to know, for what purpose it was created: did the artist wish to decorate a palace with it or write it for church? And it can be, it intended for an exhibition in gallery where visitors would admire with the beauty or it would force them to reflect on the ideas expressed in it… Is there in product any political, social either moral sense or the main thing in it is to express emotions?

Though… Artist Renoir wrote various paintings, and people bought his pictures just because they liked them.

At studying of painting works is important not only style of the image, but also paints. Art materials and methods were changed. The manner of painting is so individual, as handwriting. Some artists put paints smoothly, creating a smooth surface; others use separate, sometimes sharp dabs. Everything depends only on preference of the artist.

This number could even go higher when the seals of the five applicants will already be released, after the compliance of additional documentary requirements.

The DTI Bagwis Program (formerly known as the DTI-Certified Establishment Program), which awards seals to various establishments, aims to give due recognition to the business people that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business where consumers get value for money.

All retail establishments, supermarkets, department/specialty stores, and DTI-accredited service and repair shops.

Of the 38 DTI Bagwis Seal holders in the area, 14 are from Davao del Norte, 11 from Davao City, eight from Compostela Valley Province, three from Davao del Sur, and two from Davao Oriental.

There are three levels of award under the Philippine government DTI Bagwis Program – bronze, silver, and gold.

The Bronze Seal acts as the establishment’s compliance to Fair Trade Laws and the presence of a Consumer Welfare Desk or a recognized Customer Service Counter. While the Silver Seal means the achievement of the requirements required for the bronze seal plus the establishment’s commitment to social responsibility. The Gold Seal, on the other hand, embodies the achievement of the Silver Seal requirements and some elements aligned to the ISO 9001 (Quality Management System).

Philippine Government DTI 11 Regional Director Marizon S. Loreto said that in patronizing the products and services offered by the DTI Bagwis Seal awardees, consumers are assured of quality.

“One of the DTI Bagwis Program’s goals is to ensure that quality and safe goods, products, and services at affordable prices are available at DTI-certified establishments. Thus, consumers can really count on these store or shops,” she said.

Another objective of the program is to create an environment where entrepreneurs uphold fair and honest business practices through voluntary self regulation.

Loreto said DTI will continuously campaign among establishments their accreditation to the Bagwis Program.

“This is to ensure that consumers are provided with quality products and services and the same time, encourage more patrons for the establishments,” she said.
